Sama Fan: Zac Hanson Welcomes Daughter Junia Rosa Ruth December 17, 2010

Back in May we received a thank you from the Hanson family for the gift we sent to John Ira Shepherd Hanson (“Shepherd”), for his 2nd birthday. Now the Hanson’s  are welcoming their 2nd child into the world, daughter Junia Rosa Ruth. Looks like we need to get a new gift basket together… Congratulations from the Sama Baby Team!!

Zac Hanson got an early holiday present on Wednesday – and it was exactly what he was hoping for.

The Hanson drummer and his wife Kate welcomed their second child, daughter Junia Rosa Ruth, who arrived at 8 lbs., 7 oz.

“We couldn’t imagine a better Christmas gift than this sweet little girl,” Hanson, 25, tells PEOPLE.

“In just the short time she’s been here, she’s enriched our family and our lives beyond measure,” he adds. “We’re looking forward to celebrating the season with our family and introducing her to everyone.”

Baby Junia joins brother Shepherd, 2½, and a half-dozen cousins ranging from age 2 to 8: Zac’s brother and bandmate Taylor has four kids while Isaac has two.

Sama Baby is made of 100% luxuriously soft organic cotton.  This includes five blankets from our Lucky Layette elephant collection! This an extra special gift that is truly memorable!
Baby and Toddler Blankets are such a necessity – and our blankets are HUGE!  Moms rave about the fact that our blanket can last a child at least until 3 years old. Don’t you remember your favorite blanket?

Who wouldn’t want a set of blankets for every day of the week?

We have had so many mothers excited about our blankets – the size is nice and large so you can wrap your little one in at least until they are a toddler!  Trust us, this is a great gift since it is a basic necessity for babies, and its one of our top picks – super soft, luxurious, and generously sized!

I must say our organic blankets will keep your little one warm and cozy while protecting them from many harmful chemicals found in most ordinary baby blankets, and anything else that comes their way! Just think of SAMA blankets as your babies own personal super hero, keeping them safe (and warm)! 🙂  Wrap your loved ones in 100% organic cotton and then get on with all that comes with the busy holiday season. Happy Holidays!!

November is National Literacy Month- Remember to share books with your little ones! October 22, 2010

Throughout 2010 Sama has been blessed with many supporters! We are grateful that our brand has been accepted and appreciated by mom’s of all walks of life! From local supporters, to friends, to celebrities and national fans, we appreciate the kind words and general shift to a more organic lifestyle.

We would like to remind all mom’s out there that November is National Family Literacy Month. Family literacy month is a time to recognize the important role that family support plays in the success of reading and literacy. Children who are read to and learn to read at an early age are more likely to be better learners and succeed in other areas of their education. So, calling all moms, calling all moms~dress your children in their favorite Sama outfits and have a reading party all month long!

Harlow Madden’s Snazzy Sneakers October 15, 2010

Harlow Madden sure looks pretty in pink!

While out for family pizza night with dad Joel Madden, mom Nicole Richie and little brother Sparrow, the adorable 2-year-old stepped out in an adorable girlie-meets-punk ensemble (tiered print dress, graffiti-style sneakers and flower headband). But it was her colorful footwear that really caught our eye.

Turns out the curly-haired cutie was sporting Twinkle Toes Dualing Hearts ($37) shoes from SKECHERS KIDS. Bright and glittery, they feature a hip graphic design and light up! (People.com)

These snazzy sneakers would look adorable paired with our Sama Rockstar Dresses! The colors in the shoe go perfectly with the our raspberry rose print. Keep it rockin’ Harlow! Check out SamaBaby.com for more color options!

Go Organic This Halloween!! October 6, 2010

Ah, the spirit of Halloween is in the air. Help your kids become their favorite super hero, movie star, historical figure, or even their favorite inanimate object! Encourage them to get creative and go over the top but remember to use what you can find around the house, at thrift stores, or buy organic costumes! Seek out the weird, the ewey gooey and the spooky stuff and mix it all together to make this Halloween one the kids will never forget, just do it organic style. 🙂

Today, kid of all ages can have any costume imaginable at the drop of a 20. There is not  anything remotely eco-friendly about typical store-bought costumes. They are made from all manner of earth-unfriendly materials, staring with man-made, petroleum-based fabrics and chemical dyes. And how many times have you bought a new costume that was worn once and then lost in the attic/basement/closet abyss?

Give new meaning to green goblin this Halloween, reduce, reuse, and recycle!

The Center for the New American Dream, a Maryland-based nonprofit that encourages responsible consumerism, compiled this list of conservation-minded costumes:

• The fried egg: Get a cheap white sheet and cut a hole big enough to fit your head through. Paint your face yellow.

• Freudian slip: Wear an old slip over your clothes, get a big cigar, and make a nametag that reads “Sigmund.”

• Bag of jelly beans: Get an empty dry cleaning bag, cut holes for your arms and legs, then step into the bag so it is loose around your middle. Fill with different colored balloons, then knot the bag to secure it around your neck.

There are also some more cheap and creative costume ideas at the National Geographic Kids Web site. (the green guide )

Denim rug photo
Quilted denim scraps from old blue jeans make a beautiful area rug.
roolen1/Craftster.org

With fall in the air, its time to  check out your little ones closet and asses. Most likely you won’t get away with reusing  jeans from the previous season. But we know you may have so many fond memories of little Johnny in his favorite pair, you can’t imagine throwing them out!

It’s hard to part with a beloved pair of jeans, but when they become too worn, too small, or too stained, it’s time to let go. Well, at least out of the closet, that is. Don’t toss them out for good!  Here are some creative ways to spice up your favorite pair and let their memory live on. (planetgreen.com)

1. Area rug
Use several scraps of denim to create this beautiful quilted patchwork rug.

2. Coasters
Even the seams of your jeans can be reused. Make these great coasters by rolling the seams and gluing with fabric paint. Quick, easy, and really cute!

3. Memory Box
Cover a box with denim fabric to make this sturdy memory box. It’s the perfect place to store photographs, ticket stubs, and letters from friends. Tuck the pocket inside to hold smaller items.

4. Oven Mitt
Lined with mylar batting, this mitt is will protect your hand from the heat.

5. Lap Desk
Use a lid from an old storage tote and the fabric from your old jeans to make this handy lap desk. This would be a perfect gift for kids or teens.
