Mom 2.0 Summit Announces Art Exhibit at FotoFest January 27, 2010

– Exhibit Spotlights Work of Women Online and Raises Funds
for Haiti Earthquake Recovery –

The Mom 2.0: Defining a Movement exhibit will go on display in Houston February 5 and continue until February 20. The Summit will feature a Friday night private viewing event for conference attendees, at which a silent auction for the art pieces will be held to raise money for earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti. Be sure to register for the conference now so you don’t miss out on Friday, when we will all be gathered to celebrate the creations of those that have led the way and toast to the next chapter in the movement.

The exhibit will be displayed at FotoFest, an international non-profit organization promoting photographic arts and education in Houston, Texas. The  exhibit will include photography, video, art and writings of women online.

A variety of topics and categories will be represented, such as community, design, body image, humor, business/professions, food, fashion, travel, politics, religion, grief, sex, infertility, adoption, dads, green practices,  taste making and industry trends. To represent the movement, Mom 2.0 is partnering with Shutter Sisters to curate some of the best of what moms are creating online.

“This exhibit is important and the first of its kind, presenting what a diverse group of mothers are doing online in an immersive, multi-sensory medium,” said Laura Mayes, one of the founders of the Mom 2.0 Summit and of “The Mom 2.0 movement is radically authentic, and its exhibit shows the truly transformative power of women’s voices, stories and perspectives.”

The keynote speaker for the 2010 Mom 2.0 Summit will be Gretchen Rubin, pursuer of joy and creator of The Happiness Project.

Her bestselling book The Happiness Project, is an account of the year she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, the current scientific studies, and the lessons from popular culture about how to be happier.

On her popular blog,, she reports on her daily adventures in the pursuit of happiness. Upon publication, the book The Happiness Project shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.

The Mom 2.0 conference takes place Feb. 18-20 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston.  A private viewing party for conference attendees will take place at FotoFest on the evening of Friday, Feb. 19, at which a silent auction for the art pieces will be held to raise money for earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti.
