Our blizzard conditions in ColoradoSo today we woke up to find a blizzard outside our window.  At first, we freaked out.  Then we thought, well this is our adventure!  A road trip is what we wanted, so a road trip is what we got.  Thank god our friends told us to get a 4 wheel drive just in case!  Here’s 2 Texas girls, trying to drive from one town to another in the snow.

So today we attended a conference called Chicks Who Click here in Boulder, CO – it was great! We met some great people and learned about social media.

One of the best parts of the conference was getting to know all these fantastic people out there in the blogosphere — all social media enthusiasts.

I must say I loved the margaritas at Rio Grande and then KARAOKE night at Outback was too fun. What happens at Outback STAYS AT OUTBACK, that’s all we have to say! Although we’re not sure if our partners in crime will honor that!

Neha was sitting on Columbia records tonight, and Walmart was in the back seat. Let us know if you want to know what that means.

See you guys in July in BlogHer!

Colorado Road Trip - Beautiful Roads!

Colorado Road Trip - Beautiful Roads!

Day 2: Starting at 7 AM, we headed straight over to Ft. Collins, and if you really want to hear a crazy day read this..

So of course, being the workaholics that we are, we decided to fit in everything we could imagine into one day..

Met with Clothes Pony – a baby boutique we would rate 5 out of 5 in terms of awesome selection of toys, classes, clothes, and passionate individuals that love their store – and unique lines. We met them at ABC Kids, but it was even better to see them in person one on one!

Then of course, driving around N College Ave, we found some great stores like Eco Logic. Apparently the Colorado state has created these Eco stores that are all encompassing from kitchen gadgets all the way to of course fashionable baby clothes – which is where we fit in, affordable, luxury organic baby clothes – which you can find at
We literally did a drive by quick run in to show the line, feel the samples, give a catalogue and head out. Same with another cute boutique that really liked our Lucky Elephant Collection! (An ORGANIC Drive-By!)

Of course, met with our yummy Whole Foods at Ft. Collins who carries our line – it was great to meet our stores that carry us. I think meeting one on one is really what makes us stand out, and sets us apart. We are passionate, authentic, and excited – and they can really feel it – we work with them. And, of course pick up yummy Whole Foods sandwiches that lasted us four hours..

Then we headed back about 80 miles to Cherry Creek in Denver and stopped by a super cute boutique that had yoga classes. It was literally like Deja Vu for Shivani and I – we had been by there playing in the snow with one of our family friends years before!

And then another boutique that does all eco-products.. a mommy and daughter store!

The fun part of all this is that we took a catnap in our car. Yes, in our car, on the side of the street near Louisana St and Downing. Weird, but we were so tired from 200 miles of driving and no sleep.. so yes it was a catnap that lasted about an hour…

And then proceeded to head out to our Chicks Who Click event at B Side Lounge – which we were super excited about meeting some of the best people we have met – authentic, real, exciting, and passionate! Nothing is better than meeting people like Barbara Jones, Gwen Bell, George G Smith, Gwen’s Joel, GeekMommy, Jen, Wayne Sutton, Doyle Al Bee, Zenaweist and MANY others. I hope that we will all find a way to work together, because I am inspired by their wisdom, knowledge, and fervor.

And when you get a group of that much energy, we turn the party in to Chicks who Clink!

See you tomorrow gang – as we are FINALLY at the day of our Conference!

Experts on Green Organic Goodness! January 9, 2009

Neha with Lara Bell

Neha with Lara Bell

Started my early morning talking with Lara Bell, KTBU, Channel 55 with a great soundbyte at Mint Baby Uptown Park. It was great to talk to her about the importance of organic products and why moms should focus on organic cotton. If moms want to be green by taking care of the environment around their children – they should def. think about the closest thing touching their children’s skin – the clothes they wear!

I had a great time. I really enjoy being on TV and had no idea how much fun it is to inform, be in front of a camera, and talk your heart out about what you feel most passionate about!

Anyways, it’s about 2am in Colorado, and I have a super early morning of meetings, and then of course, a Tweet Up with Chicks Who Click 09!

Goodnight readers!

Ellie's Cool WallEllie's in Boulder is a cool store!Hey guys, so it has officially started – Sama Road Trip 2009!  We just got to Denver!!!  It is beautiful here, not too cold, we’ve already met with 2 boutiques, and a Whole Foods!  We saw a cool eco store called Ellie’s — what a cool place!  We’ll post pictures of it tomorrow, it was a complete eco store, from building a house, painting it, home goods, apparel, childrenswear, personal care, everything — we told them they should franchise it and bring it to Houston!  We stopped the most beautiful tea house for dinner, I had delicious jasmine tea, the place looked like a converted buddhist temple.  Next stop: Ft. Collins and Boulder, CO.

My Best Friend's Baby

My Best Friend's Baby

One of my best friends recently told me that her son has Aspergers syndrome. It is on the spectrum of autism. This news really surprised me because I wasn’t aware of the number of children affected by autism. Another friend has a child who has asthma, she puts her son in my clothes, and says he can breathe better at night when he is wearing our pure organic garments. A third friend of mine recently told me her child has eczema, and he is fussy because of it, so she is on a mission to solve this. I told her the alternative health things I know, since I have eczema, and she has switched her child to all organic bedding clothes, socks, etc. so she was planning to order a Sama Baby wardrobe for him.

Today I decided to research autism and see if organic cotton clothes can, in fact, help. I found this post on the Autism Society of America website:

Tips of the Day – Clothing

Wash laundry in detergents that are free of bleach, bleach alternatives, perfumes and dyes.
Take tags out of clothing for a child with tactile issues.
Dress your child in plain pajamas without appliqués, raised lettering and pictures.

It’s the wash laundry in detergents that are free of bleach, bleach alternatives, perfumes, and dyes — OUR CLOTHES ARE MADE THAT WAY! As long as you continue to wash them with natural cleaning products, you maintain the purity of the garment.

I’m still researching all these things, but if anyone has any knowledge about this or how we can develop a product to help these moms, please contact me. -Shivani

The Economy is Down and We are Road-Tripping January 2, 2009

Two, young, sister entrepreneurs are ready to hit the road to make sales really happen.

Starting January 8th, Neha Gupta and Shivani Gupta will be heading over to Colorado to attend a wonderful conference: Chicks Who Click – to gain some knowledge from some very intelligent and inspiring people!

We are very excited about being part of this, and are looking forward to spending time together closely.  I really think this will be a great experience.

With the way the economy is, people need to hear the story directly from the owners. They want to know you care, and that you are willing to work with them.  So rather than sitting behind our Macs, trying to get our name out there, we are just going to get up, get our hands in the dirt, and go for it!

We’ve already called a bunch of boutiques and Whole Foods in the area – and hope that we can stop by the best.  If you have any suggestions – please let us know! We would love to know where our product would fit best – and which boutiques are the best ones in the Colorado area!!

We are so excited about the conference and think we will learn so much on how to work your net-work!

We are hittin' the road!

We are hittin' the road!

Ta ta for now – and happy new year!
