Sama Baby at ENK NYC! August 27, 2009

Hi,

ENK is the children’s industry main trade show – the show to be at when you are a clothing line.  It is where hundreds of buyers come, including Barney’s, Saks, Neimans, and much more. For us it was such a success – it was our first time doing the show, and people just LOVED our items – and of course, our pricepoint. In today’s economy – people are looking at every single dollar they spend – not just as a consumer, but as a buyer of a boutique.  They know that moms are looking for a good product – fairly priced, beautifully designed adorably soft.  And of course, the moms that are organic minded, and focus on organic cotton clothing – love our line – since we price everything reasonably against any other normal conventional line in a boutique!

Building a brand in a small space can be tough, 5 X 5….but when you give two greenista fashionistas a chance – -this is what it looked like!

A beautiful video with our lovely Sama Mama’s in their amazing a fashion items from Sama Baby, a wonderful hand-made grid – made by none other than the Sama Mama team, and of course our beautiful baby clothes hanging.  We of course featured our great top press from Vanity Fair!

Doing the show was great – we learned so much from everyone around, and got to really connect with a lot of other owners – and meet some of the coolest female entrepreneurs.

I would love it if everyone did this exercise. If you had to fit your entire personality, drive, or ideas into a 5 X 5 space – what would it look like? What would you highlight about yourself? What would you focus on as your self?

Giggle, Giggle, Giggle and Kelly Rutherford! August 21, 2009

Shivani and I visited the Giggle store in NYC – and ran into KELLY RUTHERFORD from Gossip Girl!

As we were walking in, she was walking out -and of course I just froze and stood there.. it was quite hilarious.

Here is a picture of Shivani under the Giggle sign…. one of her favorite stores to purchase baby items – great service, great choices.. we are hoping to get picked up by this store! If you have one near you, ask them about Sama Baby – tell them to write it down and tell the manager! It would be great to see what a grassroots effect would do!  They are def. interested in carrying us – as they have talked with us over the past year – and love our mission, story, and line!

and if you look closely in this picture – the woman in all black, and black leggings is Kelly Rutherford – she looks amazing in person! She loves to shop at Giggle- as you can see by the big shopping bag she is carrying!

I can’t believe I have literally run into the entire team at Gossip Girl in NYC – they are all so beautiful in person!

Anyways – just thought I would share you that fun tid bit!

Sama Baby is SUPER excited about being featured in Juli B. Houston – if you aren’t subscribed – get on it!

We are AVID readers of this – I am sure every woman has one email list they read constantly – keeping up with the latest and greatest in their local area.  It just adds a level of oomph for all those ladies who have WAY too much going on but still want to know whats happening, whats cool, and where it is at!

For Houston, Juli B is a great read. Always featuring these finds that are new and different. We were happy to be featured as their top pick for baby eco-fashion clothing for Houston – the FOURTH largest city in the US!

Hi Everyone - 

After SUCH a great response from our great team in Houston spreading the word – we have over 30 models that have applied for the fashion show – HOW EXCITING!  I have been getting NON STOP emails from moms with their BEAUTIFUL children in each one! Houston has such cute kids – its pretty unbelievable!

We want to thank all of you for taking a look at us and finding out more about Sama Baby in Houston! Please feel free to take a look at the website and peruse our new summer line – as we just got it in the past few weeks!  We love making organic cotton childrens clothing and involving so many local moms and babies in our line. There is nothing more rewarding than meeting each one of our models and being part of their lives. We love Houston, we love our company, and we love organic, healthy lifestyle.   Moms in Houston are amazing – and I have been meeting so many since our first fashion show, eating dinners with some of our models parents, promoting their events, helping out with their endeavors, and just becoming part of their life too! The Healthy Belly and Sama Baby April 13, 2009

Hi Everyone -

So as you can tell – we are really getting quite some traction in terms of press. To be more precise – we have been featured in 50 different press related instances. Kind of crazy, isn’t it?

Anyways, The Healthy Belly is a great website that focuses on birth and motherhood. We met the team that started this website, a quarky, fun, easy to be around team from Arizona with a really different way of working – they followed their passion and combined forces together to create this wonderful website called http://thehealthybelly.com

Why The Healthy Belly?
Our mission is to help educate expecting parents and families on the many topics relating to raising a child or toddler, to the amazing experiences of pre and post-natal pregnancy. With a strong focus on nutrition, fitness, and mental health, The Healthy Belly strives to give you the most positive, organic, and holistic approach to pregnancy and child development.

The team met us at Expo West – the all natural expo in California – that many companies go to that focus on natural and organic products.

Are you getting picked on at the park? April 1, 2009

So, let’s say you are at a cocktail party.. or your child’s park – hanging out with moms – and they give you a hard time about being organic or green… read this.  If you talk about statistics and facts, people might realize that you do know the story or the facts behind the products you buy!

1.

Organic cotton is the version of its conventional counterpart grown without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers or any other chemicals, and that makes it hugely different, especially considering that cotton (organic or otherwise) provides about half of all the world’s fiber needs.

2.

Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically-dependent crops, sucking up 10 percent of all agricultural chemicals and 25 percent of insecticides on 3 percent of our arable land; that’s more than any other crop per unit.

3. That adds up to 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to produce enough cotton for a t-shirt, and 3/4 of a pound for a pair of jeans. And that’s just not bad for the planet;

4. 20,000 deaths occur each year from pesticide poisoning in developing countries, many of these from cotton farming, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

So yea – please comment if you EVER use these as facts to spout out. I’d love to know what the responses are? JAW DROPPING?
